A graduate of the University of Cebu topped the August 2024 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination. 

According to the Philippine Regulation Commission (PRC), John Philip Minancillo got a rating of 90.60 percent, placing him ahead of graduates of Batangas State University - Alanginan, Capiz State University, Mapua University - Manila, De la Salle University - Manila, and Xavier University in the Top 10.

Seven examinees in the Top 10 are from schools in the regions with four coming from Batangas State University - Alanginan. 

The Top 10 examinees are as follows:

  1. John Philip Minancillo, University of Cebu, 90.60%
  2. Carl Geoffrey del Mundo Sanchez, Batangas State University - Alangilan, 90.20%
  3. Jerson Daliva Amongo, Capiz State University - Main Campus, 89.25%
  4. Arvin Lemuel Cantos Freo, Batangas State University - Alangilan, 89.10
  5. Darius Angelo Ascaño Libao, Batangas State University - Alangilan, 88.95
  6. Lloyd Adrian Anacin Dumanayos, Mapua University - Manila, 88.75
  7. Sofia Clarin Hernandez, Batangas State University - Alangilan, 88.20
  8. Godwin Yobl Napoles Calangi, De La Salle University - Manila, 86.85
  9. Christian James Tangan Casiño, Xavier University, 86.65
  10. Paul Bryan Martinez Elefante, De La Salle University - Manila, 85.80

PRC released the results evening on August 27, 2024. 

In a Facebook post, UC Chancellor Candice Gotianuy described Minancillo's achievement as "an incredible success."
