Taal Volcano remains active with ongoing degassing, causing volcanic smog, or vog, to envelop the lake and island.

The emission of smoke morning on August 26, 2024 reached up to 1,500 to 1,800 meters high.

"‘Yung kanina, around 6 a.m. halos zero meters per second 'yung surface windspeed. Ngayon, medyo nagkakaroon na tayo ng pagbugso," Jerome de Lima, Science Research Specialist and Officer-in-Charge at the Taal Volcano Observatory, said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) anticipates that the wind speed will increase, helping to disperse the volcanic smog.

"Base sa wind trajectory forecast ng PAGASA for today talaga, around August 26 ay relatively magiging mabagal ang hangin. We are hoping until the afternoon magkaroon ng bugso ang hangin natin," De Lima said.

There have been no recent tremors, and Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1.

Visitors are still prohibited from entering the island, which is considered a permanent danger zone.
