The “invasion of policemen on KOJC property” with the use of a questionable warrant may have set emotions high among followers of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy that led to a protest on Carlos P. Garcia Highway in Davao City on August 25, 2024 and on to the wee hours of the morning.

“This is the first time ever in the history of the Republic of the Philippines that a warrant of arrest with an address in Pasig City, sole warrant of arrest which has been shown to us, is being used to conduct an arrest in Davao City,” Atty. Israelite Torreon, KOJC chief legal counsel, said in a press conference on August 26, 2024.

“Ang ipinakita three days ago ay isa lang pong warrant of arrest, kay Sylvia Semanes, ang address ay sa Pasig City. Sa amin pong palagay, under the Rules of Court, a warrant of arrest addressed in Pasig City is not a license to conduct an unbridled search into a property owned by a different entity,” Torreon said.

He disclosed that the tension was already heightened earlier by the plan of two police generals to bomb purportedly what they believe is a bunker inside a law school owned by KOJC where Quiboloy is believed to be hiding.

Torreon said that these police generals believe that the bunker is located near an elevator of the school.

“Balak nilang bombahin ito kasi daw meron daw pong bunker na doon daw nagtatago si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy,” Torreon added.

Further, Torreon apologized for the high emotions displayed by members of KOJC that led to tension with policemen and a number of private citizens on their way, or from the Davao City airport on August 25, 2024, as discord spilled on to the streets in Davao City.
