A 40-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by unidentified suspects on a motorcycle while traveling with his live-in partner in Barangay Bolaoit, Malasiqui, Pangasinan, on the morning of August 23, 2024.

Based on police reports, the suspects fired suddenly at the tricycle driver as they crossed a bridge.

The driver sustained gunshot wounds to his body and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

His live-in partner was unharmed in the attack.

“Naka-tricycle, kasama ang live-in partner niya parang sinabayan siya,” PLtCol. Edgar Palaylay, Chief of the Malasiqui Police Station, said.

The suspects were quick to flee the scene.

Authorities believe that the attack may have been motivated by a deep grudge against the victim.

The police continue their investigation, as of this writing.

"Naka-mask daw ang mga suspek, tapos tinanong ko sa mga bahay-bahay roon kung ilang putok, sabi isang putok lang ang narinig,” Juanito Caldona, Secretary of Barangay Bolaoit, said.

The police are also gathering closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from areas nearby that may provide clues that can help solve the case.

“Hindi namin bibitawan ito hangga't hindi namin nakukuha ang identity ng mga suspek,” Palaylay said.
