The Department of Public Works and Highways-Northern Mindanao (DPWH-10) has advised the public to refrain from using the Panguil Bay Bridge until it is opened officially.

This is to ensure the safety of motorists as final inspections and preparations for the opening are being done.

“Using the bridge while civil works are ongoing will interfere with the construction, jeopardizing the bridge’s structural integrity and overall quality,” the Regional Development Council-10’s Executive Committee Resolution said.

DPWH-10 added that the civil works on the bridge are expected to be completed by the end of August 2024 and the bridge is expected to be opened on September 10, based on the resolution.

In his third of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22, 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said the Panguil Bay Bridge is one of the two major bridges that are expected to be opened to motorists before the year ends.

The 3.17-kilometer Panguil Bay Bridge is touted as the longest sea-crossing bridge in Northern Mindanao, which connects Lanao del Norte to Misamis Occidental.
