The "punong barangay" (barangay chairman) of San Isidro in the district of Jaro, Iloilo City is ordered suspended for 60 days.

Barangay Chairman Ronela Juaneza received a copy of the preventive suspension order at 4 p.m. on August 21, 2024.

The suspension order is in relation to the alleged questionable release of barangay funds worth around P800,000 from December 2023 to January 2024.

The suspension was recommended by the Iloilo City Council and signed by Mayor Jerry Treñas.

According to Juaneza, she respects the said order.

Barangay Councilwoman Ruby Gallano will assume temporarily Juaneza’s post.

Gallano said she is ready to work with everyone. As for those who are not fond of her, she said, she does not see that as a stumbling block in her rendering public service.

A formal investigation upon Juaneza is set on August 28, 2024.
