Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 6 arrested in an entrapment operation a woman who pretended to be a doctor in an aesthetic clinic in Iloilo City.

The entrapment was carried out with the help of a poseur costumer.

The suspect referred to as alias “Doc Jes” was caught in the act of facilitating a gluta drip session (medical term: glutathione intravenous infusion). However, she has no license in medical practice.

"Before kami nag-conduct ng aming entrapment operation, bale nag-validate kami muna ng official status. And we found out na itong si (doctor) is not a licensed physician based sa record ng PRC,” NBI 6 Agent Aries Bañares said.

Aside from gluta drip, the suspect also offers various aesthetic services, according to NBI 6.

A case was filed against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 2382 or the Medical Act of 1959 in relation to cybercrime, and a case for estafa.

The suspect posted bail immediately.

NBI 6 added they have information that there are other individuals in the city operating a similar modus.

“That is why, nag-conduct tayo ng operation to ensure ng safety at welfare ng public,” Bañares added.

He pointed out that surgical procedure administered by bogus medical practitioners may result in infection.

When GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas checked the clinic, it is still open to the public.

The news team tried to seek a statement from the owner, but a staff member received the team instead and told that the subject of the entrapment operation is not in the clinic at that time.
