A fire broke out at a residential area in Biñan City, displacing 21 families and destroying at least 20 homes.

According to the Biñan City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the blaze reached the first alarm and forced residents to flee their homes.

FO3 Mark Anthony De Roxas, Intelligence and Investigation Unit Chief of BFP Biñan City, said the fire spread quickly because the winds were strong and the houses were made of light materials.

"Isang factor po is 'yung houses po mostly made of light materials.

The fire was extinguished fully after an hour. Damage was estimated at around P1.5 million.

There were no reported injuries or fatalities.

As of this writing, authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. An electrical short circuit is being considered as a possible cause.
