A tornado struck Barangay Asin East in Malasiqui, Pangasinan causing significant damage to homes and leaving residents in need of immediate assistance.

The tornado lasted for nearly a minute.

In a cell phone video captured by a resident, people were seen working together to hold the door of a building, preventing it from being swept away by the strong winds.

The tornado's sudden onslaught left six houses damaged, with one home losing its roof and walls entirely.

The owners of the houses that were damaged severely are now staying with relatives.

"Dumating ako dito alas-otso na, nadatnan ko ganyan. Masakit ang loob ko lalo't nawala [ang bahay]. Nadagdagan ang sakit ng ulo ko," Manuel Palisoc, a resident, said.

"Malakas talaga ‘yung buhawi. [Kami'y] walang nagawa kasi masyadong umiikot pa," Lorenzo Palisoc, another resident, added.

The tornado's strength uprooted trees with one large tree collapsing onto the roof of a garage.

RESIDENT NEEDS

Beyond food, the residents affected are asking for construction materials to repair their damaged homes.

The local government has begun distributing aid to those impacted by the tornado.

"Noong nakita nila ang [kalagayan ng mga] bahay, nagbigay [na sila] ng paunang tulong, which is ‘yung bigas at groceries. Sa pinansyal mayroon din silang ibibigay," Salvador Garcia, Chairman of Barangay Asin East, said.
