Around 7,308 pigs have been depopulated in Cotabato due to the African Swine Fever (ASF), resulting in an estimated loss of more than P77 million.

According to the provincial government, up to 789 hog raisers from 77 barangays in the province were affected.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPVet) said the cost of the depopulated swine has, so far, reached P77,452,500.

These depopulated pigs were from the towns of Antipas, President Roxas, Makilala, Pigcawayan, Kidapawan City, Matalam, Tulunan, M’lang, Kabacan, Arakan, and Midsayap.

The towns of Antipas and Makilala have already declared a state of calamity due to ASF so their respective local government could provide assistance to the hog raisers affected.
