Eight fishermen from Sitio Lipata, Barangay Gogon in Caramoan, Camarines Sur who were reported missing were located by authorities in a nearby town.

The fishermen went missing after setting out to sea on August 12, 2024.

According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Caramoan, the fishermen were found in Sitio Punat, Barangay Pinitan, Siruma.

The fishermen reportedly encountered engine trouble while on their boat, causing them to drift away until they reached the shores of Siruma.

Without cellphones, the group was unable to notify anyone about their situation, delaying rescue efforts.

All eight fishermen have returned safely to their families.

Christian Guevarra, the head of the MDRRMO Caramoan, advised fishermen to always ensure that their boats are in good condition before heading out to sea.

“Intindihon ta man po, syempre, an satuyang mga sadiri na kung safe ba kita. Inuton po na ayuson muna ang bangka, siguraduhon na nasa kondisyon, and napaka-importante po na igwang contact number kita," Guevarra said.
