The municipal government of Maragusan in Davao de Oro has implemented mandatory fogging every 4 p.m. after the town declared a dengue outbreak.

In an interview with GMA Super Radyo Davao, Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Alexis Job Codillo, said the directive will be implemented in all public schools and government offices in the town.

However, Codillo urged all residents and barangays to participate in the fogging operation.

Based on data, the town has recorded more than 300 cases of dengue with six reported deaths from January to August 2024.

Codillo also clarified that the mosquito-borne disease remains under control even with the high cases.

Health authorities reminded the public anew to follow the preventive control measures and practice the 5S habit against dengue, which include search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection like using insect repellents; seek early consultation; support fogging, spraying, and misting in hot spot areas; and sustain hydration.
