No tsunami alert in Northern Samar, according to the Northern Samar Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
"Northern Samar is safe from tsunami after 30 minutes without rupture and physical movement of waters along the coastlines affected by a magnitude 6 earthquake 34km north of Pambujan," Northern Samar PDRRMO said in a post.
In a PHIVOLCS earthquake bulletin issued at 12:24 p.m. on August 19, 2024, it was learned that the tremor that occurred at 11:39 a.m. measured 5.7.
The quake is tectonic in origin located 34 kilometers north of Pambujan town.
No damages were reported, but aftershocks are expected, Earthquake Information 2 indicated.
