The Low Pressure Area over the east of Taiwan has developed into a tropical depression, state weather bureau PAGASA said late evening on August 18, 2024.

While in the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it is named 'Dindo.'

As of 10 p.m. on August 18, the center of #DindoPH was estimated at 560 km Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (24.7°N, 125.3°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa.

As of this writing, PAGASA said #DindoPH is moving westward at 20 km/h. Its strong winds extend outwards up to 300 km from the center.

#DindoPH may exit PAR in the next 12 hours. It is forecast to cross near Ryukyu Islands, Japan evening on August 19 until morning on August 20, 2024.
