A fire destroyed a portion of the Legislative Building of the Municipal Hall of Talibon in the Province of Bohol.

The fire broke out at around 11 p.m. on August 15, 2024.

The fire was raised to third alarm. Firemen from the neighboring towns of Getafe, Trinidad, Ubay, and Bien Unido responded to the incident.

The fire broke out in the area where the offices of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development, KALAHI-CIDSS (Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services), and Sustainable Livelihood Program were located.

As the legislative building was just two meters away from the offices engulfed by the flames, the fire spread and razed a portion of the edifice.

The BFP has placed the damage at P1 million pesos. Fire investigators are yet to determine the cause of the fire, as of posting time.

Mayor Janette Aurestila-Garcia, in a post, confirmed that the legislative building is a newly constructed edifice.

“Bisan paman sa nahitabong sunog, atong ipaabot mga parte lamang sa bag-ong legislative building ang apektado niini ug ang pipila ka opisina, apan kalooy sa Ginoo wala maapil ang main ug karaan nga building sa atong munisipyo diin naa ang atong mga kasagarang opisina o departamento nahimotang,” Garcia said.
