Over 40 live hogs were banned entry into Bacolod City.

Personnel of the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) of Negros Occidental intercepted the transport of 41 live hogs in Barangay Rizal, Escalante City.

According to PVO, the truck driver and personnel failed to present the necessary documents at the border checkpoint.

The pigs were reportedly from Barangay Molocaboc, Sagay City, however no documents could prove the said claim.

PVO suspected that the pigs were from Cebu, transported via pumpboat, and transferred to the truck upon reaching Negros Occidental.

The truck driver was directed to go back to his point of origin along with the live hogs.

Further, in a PVO monitoring, entry of 12 pigs was intercepted in the town of Calatrava.

PVO suspected that the pigs were part of the animals earlier intercepted in Escalante City.

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has implemented stringent measures at its borders to prevent the entry of live hogs, pork, and pork products from areas with cases of African Swine Fever (ASF).
