Around 80 families were displaced by separate fire incidents in Cagayan de Oro over the weekend.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Cagayan de Oro, the fire that broke out in Barangay Carmen was raised to fourth alarm.

Around 25 families were affected while three residents were reported hurt while evacuating.

“Dili pa certain as to sa iyang cause leading ta to electrical ta base sa iyang information pero… kamulo ang atong investigation,” BFP-Cagayan de Oro District Spokesperson, SFO3 Emilda Barazan, said.

Authorities said the damage was pegged at more than P2 million.

Meanwhile, around 55 families were displaced when a fire razed 26 houses in Barangay Consolacion.

A resident was also reported hurt.

Firefighters had difficulty penetrating the area because the road is narrow.

“Gamay ang dalan unya naa pa’y sometimes double parking unya mga low-lying electrical wires usa pud na siya sa challenge. Unya kini pud uban naa’y mustandby mutan-aw so ang crowd makababag sa easy access ug paspas nga pagresponde,” Barazan said.

Damage has reached more than P1.5 million.

The local government has provided aid to the survivors as investigators continue to look into the causes, as of this writing.
