The top official of the Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) dared Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte to file a perjury case against him if the mayor can prove that he lied about the crime reports allegedly manipulated by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

It can be recalled that Duterte called PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, a liar after the latter reportedly said that DCPO has manipulated the police records to make it appear that the crime rate in the city is low.

Torre said Duterte should file a perjury case against him if the mayor thinks he was lying about it.

PNP chief General Rommel Marbil has confirmed that the reason behind the relief of 19 police station commanders in Davao City was the discrepancies found in the blotter reports of DCPO.

“On the criminal law books naman it can be a basis for perjury kaya nga if you call me a liar and you have the basis for it sabi ko nga abogado tatay niya eh itanong niya filan niya ‘ko ng kaso,” Torre said.

However, Duterte said it is Torre who needs to prove first that the “blue blotter” is true.

“He has to prove first kanang iyang blue blotter na sinasabi na totoo yon because otherwise if he cannot prove it then he is lying. He is the one who has to prove something not me,” Duterte said.
