A senior citizen was arrested by personnel of the National Bureau of Investigation Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI CEVRO) for operating a “shabu tyangge” (sort of marketplace or flea market) in Cebu City.

The suspect, identified as alias “Inday,” has eked out a living by selling viand and other food items in Barangay San Roque, Cebu City. She admitted that she was enticed by a certain “Neneng” to sell sachets of shabu for “extra income.”

The suspect, who reportedly has 15 children, said that she earns about P800 daily by selling food items, but when she started selling shabu, she earns around P1,500 a day.

She was caught by operatives of NBI 7 in the act of selling shabu after weeks of surveillance.

Twenty-four sachets of shabu were seized from her estimated to be worth around P15,000.

”Mag-usa na ko ka buwan namaligya,” alias “Inday” admitted in an interview with GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak in her detention cell.

NBI 7 Director, Atty. Renan Augustus Oliva, said that in weeks of surveillance they were able to confirm that the suspect has sold shabu even in the vicinity of a church.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia lauded the operations of NBI 7.

“I commend them for their efforts and for their operations, I hope nga magpadayon pa gyud na as we are very serious with our fight against criminality,” Garcia said.
