A school principal fell from the rooftop of a public elementary school in Moises Padilla town, Province of Negros Occidental, and died at the hospital three days after the incident.
Reynaldo Mojares, principal of Guinpana-an Elementary School died at the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital in Bacolod City on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Mojares climbed the roof of a classroom on July 28, 2024 to clean up in preparation for the opening of classes on July 29, 2024, according to the Department of Education (DepEd) in Negros Occidental.
However, he fell off the ladder on his way down.
He landed head first on the ground. The impact reportedly damaged his spinal cord.
Mojares would have retired from service by January 2025.
“Pababa na sya. Hindi daw nakahawak sa hagdan, nag-slide. Yan ang dahilan ng kanyang pagkahulog,” Ian Arnold Arnaez, spokesperon of the DepEd - Negros Occidental, said.
