A public school teacher was arrested in a sting operation in Loreto, Agusan del Sur on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Caraga (PDEA-13) arrested the 29-year-old suspect after he was found with sachets of suspected shabu worth around P10,000.

Also recovered from the suspect were his personal belongings and a Department of Education (DepEd) identification card.

“This is particularly troubling as it involves a person in a position of trust and influence over young minds,” PDEA-13 said.

The suspect is now detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

“This operation underscores the government’s relentless effort to root out corruption and illegal activities, even within its own ranks. It sends a strong message that no one is above the law, and public servants are held to the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Through these actions, the government aims to restore and maintain the public’s trust and confidence in its institutions,” PDEA added.

Meanwhile, nine people were arrested after anti-narcotics agents dismantled two drug dens in separate operations in Zamboanga City and Digos City.
