A 46-year-old man fell off the step board of a passenger bus and hit the pavement that killed him instantaneously in Alcoy town, southern Cebu Province.
The man reportedly ran after the bus bound for Boljoon town at around 4 p.m. on July 31, 2024.
According to Alcoy Police, the bus was slowing down because of a tricycle moving in front of it. However, when the man had clung to the bus and jumped onto the step board, he lost his footing, released his clutch from the bus door’s handle, his back hit the bus before he landed on the pavement.
The man was a worker of a mining company in Barangay Pugalo, Alcoy, and was bound for home in Boljoon.
The driver said he did not notice of the man running after the bus.
The driver will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
He is detained currently awaiting the decision of the man’s family whether to pursue or not a case against him.
