A 35-year-old man was killed during the service of an arrest warrant against him in a remote area in San Juan, Batangas.

Police said the man allegedly opened fire first, prompting the policemen serving the warrant to fire back. Two cops were hit.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and chest, while the two policemen were hit in the mouth and thigh.

The policemen injured were taken immediately to the San Juan Hospital where they are recovering, as of this writing.

The suspect was pronounced dead on arrival.

Barangay Bulsa is a mountain barangay in San Juan.

According to the police, the Regional Intelligence Division - Regional Special Operations Unit (RID-RSOU4-A) arrived in the barangay around 5 a.m. to serve the warrant.

The suspect was wanted for violations of Republic Act 8294 or Illegal Possession of Firearms, and RA 9516 or Illegal Possession of Explosives.
