A one-year-old boy died after he was run over by a rescue vehicle in Barangay Sabang Piris, Buenavista, Quezon on July 27, 2024.

Based on police reports, the child was with his 15-year-old sister at that time but the boy reportedly crossed the street.

Bryan Vicedo, Chief of the Buenavista Police Station, said.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

Investigation revealed that a non-governmental organization had borrowed the rescue vehicle from the local government unit to transport relief goods.

The driver reportedly did not see the child.

The victim's family and the driver did not issue a statement but police said the two parties have reached an agreement.

"Babayaran nila 'yung sa funeral ng bata and financial assistance. Sa ngayon po, nag-execute po 'yung tatay ng Affidavit of Disinterest to File Action," Vicedo said.

Authorities are urging parents to always monitor their young children closely to prevent such tragic incidents.
