The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is working double time to recover the vessel that sank in the water of Barangay Cabcaben, Mariveles, Bataan on July 27, 2024.
The vessel was identified as MTKR Jason Bradley. This was confirmed evening on July 27 when three Coast Guard vessels arrived at the scene.
According to CG Lieutenant Commander Michael John Encina, Commander of Coast Guard Station Bataan, the vessel was found to be empty of cargo.
The shipping company is in the process of preparing the necessary equipment for salvage operations, which are expected to be completed within one to two weeks.
In a related effort, the PCG has installed an improvised oil spill boom to contain the spill from the MT Terra Nova, a motor tanker, that sank 3.6 nautical miles east of Lamao Point in Limay.
This is part of an ongoing recovery operation in the waters around Limay in the same province.
The PCG aims at mitigating the environmental impact of the spill.
