Several homes and boats were damaged by strong winds and waves brought by the southwest monsoon in Barangay Binahian, Sipocot, Camarines Sur.
According to the Barangay Council, six houses were damaged, affecting six families in the area. Meanwhile, two boats were destroyed and nine others were damaged partly.
Barangay officials are urging the government to construct a seawall to protect residents from harsh weather conditions.
Fishermen are discouraged from going out to sea when the weather is bad.
“An sabi ko po sainda obserbahan ang dagat ta medyo pag talaga dae pa kaya, dae magpwersa sinda ning mag-lawod—dapat ngako ingatan ta ang buhay ta masakit na," Esteban Moreno, the Barangay Captain, said.
