Amidst severe weather conditions, a fisherman discovered a block of shabu on the shore in Barangay La Paz, Laoag City, on July 25, 2024.

The fisherman turned the shabu over to the local police.

The Crime Laboratory confirmed that what the fisherman found is indeed shabu. The block weighed more than 115 grams with an estimated street value of PHP 7.5 million.

The block was wrapped in plastic that has Chinese characters, similar to other illegal drugs recovered previously from coastal areas of Ilocos.

On July 8, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) incinerated P642.3 million worth of drugs at a crematorium in Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.

The incinerated drugs included the blocks of shabu that were found floating off Ilocos over a two-week period starting June 24.
