A 14-year-old girl was found dead with stab wounds inside her house in Barangay Cacao, Zamboanga City.

Police said the suspect, a neighbor of the victim, may have stabbed the victim using a pair of scissors. The victim sustained wounds in the neck and chest and there were signs that she tried to fight back.

According to the victim’s grandmother, she wanted to bring her granddaughter along with her somewhere but the girl reportedly refused to go with her.

When she returned home, she found her granddaughter lying on the floor lifeless. She then called the authorities.

“Kinsa ba gayod na mipatay nimo, neng? Ngano ing-ana gihimo sa imu neng. Gusto ko mangita og hustisya sa taong mipatay kaniya,” Asuncion Gregorio, the victim’s grandmother, said.

Authorities arrested the 32-year-old suspect during a hot pursuit operation. Based on a witness’ account, the suspect was seen coming out from the victim’s house with scratches in the body.

“The SOCO was able to recover dalawang scissors, isang axe doon sa area, Immediately I ordered for the operation on the ground. We have already suspect on custody, we are processing him now,” Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) OIC Director, Kimberly Molitas, said.

The victim’s family believe that the suspect tried to harass the victim sexually, but investigators said no sign of rape was found.

“Walang nakitang ganon ang SOCO natin our experts have determined that she was not raped walang evidence also that she was rape,” Molitas added.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the suspect for comment, as of this writing.

Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was found dead with stab wounds in Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Police said the victim may have just arrived home when he was killed.

The victim sustained six stab wounds in different parts of his body.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive.
