A 54-year-old taxicab passenger who felt uncertain of her safety with the driver jumped out of the vehicle while in Talisay City, Cebu and shared the experience through her social media account.

As her post went viral, a meeting was scheduled between her, the chief of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-TODA), the driver, and the owner of the company operating the taxi.

Rose Dabatos Peras said she went suspicious as the driver did not follow allegedly the route suggested by the navigation map application.

Peras apologized for her abrupt posting of her experience that mentioned the name of the company, much to the dismay of the company owner.

Peras said she feared for her safety when the taxi driver plied reportedly in a dark area.

The driver said he took an alternate route as the main road was closed temporarily because of an event. The alternate road was reportedly dimly lit. The driver argued that had he thought of something bad against the woman he could have locked the doors. He said that he did not even run after the woman to collect her fare.

Peras apologized to both the driver and the owner of the taxi. She had also taken down her post on her safety concerns that went viral and replaced it with a public apology.

Jerry Dy, owner of MRG Taxi, said he felt that the post was harassment on his part as it affects the reputation of his company and its taxi services, as well as his team of drivers.

The incident was settled in the office of CT-TODA Chief Jonathan Tumulak.
