Heavy rain from the southwest monsoon, intensified by #CarinaPH, has led to widespread flooding across Batangas.
In Tanauan City, streets have turned into rivers due to persistent rainfall, resulting in severe flooding that remains deep even through the morning hours.
On the morning of July 24, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) deployed water pumps to remove standing water from the streets. However, the floodwaters are expected to persist until the situation improves.
In Lemery, Batangas, motorists braved high floodwaters in Barangay Palanas.
In Barangay Malinis, muddy floodwaters caused disruptions for both motorists and residents, carrying away trash and making roads nearly impassable. Some vehicles got stuck in the thick mud.
The flooding has left behind debris, including uprooted trees and fallen branches. Clearing operations have already begun to address the situation.
The provincial government of Batangas has declared a state of emergency.
"All Local Government Units in the province of Batangas can mobilize and utilize their resources," Vice Governor Mark Leviste said.
Authorities are urging the public to stay alert for potential landslides and further heavy rain.
