Up to 57 live pigs were culled in four areas affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) in Sultan Kudarat.

These areas include Tacurong City and the towns of Bagumbayan, Isulan, and Columbio.

According to the Provincial Veterinary Office, more pigs may be culled.

"Nagpadayon ang among monitoring ug surveillance ug gihimong depopulation karon. Naa na’y kamanduan. Bawal mi karon magpagawas og baboy, karne ug processed nga karne sa baboy. Bawal pud magpasulod (og buhing baboy, karne, pork products) sa Sultan Kudarat,” Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Edwin Naci, said.

The damage caused by ASF in the province has reached more than P400,000, so far.

Meanwhile, General Santos City is not affected by ASF.

According to the Meat Vendors Association in the city’s public market, the supply of pork in the city remains sufficient.

The price of pork also remains low, ranging from P350 to P370.

Checkpoints in the city were also intensified to prevent the entry of ASF.
