A production worker at the Mactan Export Processing Zone (MEPZ) 2 in Lapu-Lapu City fell victim literally to a hit-and-run incident while he was traveling the road in Barangay Basak on board his motorcycle.

He expressed dismay at personnel of the Mobile Patrol Unit who were plying the road at the same time, but did not allegedly bother to run after the perpetrator who was with a woman sans crash helmet riding pillion.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries, though, but he said it could have been different had the police gone after the perpetrator and apprehended him.

In the CCTV footage of Basak Command Center, it was seen that the 42-year-old victim identified as Jundre Santillan was on board his motorcycle plying M. L. Quezon Highway, but another motorcycle maneuvered close to him and hit him.

He lost control of his motorcycle and fell on the pavement. However, the other driver did not bother stop, and instead revved past the patrol car to leave him behind.

The patrol car was seen to have slowed down as cops checked on the victim who had managed to stand up after the incident.

Santillan said he does not mind the grazes and contusions he sustained on his hands and knees because the nonchalance of the policemen and the perpetrator are more painful to bear.

He pointed out of the injustice done to him when the other motorcycle driver left him as if nothing had happened.

In another camera angle, a few meters away from where the incident happened, the cops alerted a traffic enforcer who went immediately toward the victim.

Police Colonel Ali Abendan Baron, city director of the Lapu-Lapu City Police, said that an investigation is launched in line with the incident.

Abendan said they are tracking down the plate number of the motorcycle to establish the identity of the erring driver.
