A car was struck by a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Barangay San Juan, Baao, Camarines Sur as it was crossing the train tracks, resulting in minor injuries to its occupants.

The train was traveling to Albay from Naga City, Camarines Sur.

Initial police investigation revealed that the car’s driver, a woman, failed to notice the approaching train. Despite attempts to reverse the car, the woman panicked and was unable to move the vehicle in time.

"Ngayon na stuck-up yung mirage at gusto pa sanag iatras nung driver kaso lang— babae, nataranta ‘di na napaatras — ang ginawang action nila is lumabas sila ng sasakyan," PCapt. Jose Ablan II, Deputy Chief of Police of the Baao Municipal Police Station, said.

The impact pushed the car several meters away, causing it to enter a nearby compound.

The police are currently investigating the incident to determine the liabilities of the PNR and the driver.

This is the second train-related accident in Baao this year.

Authorities are working on plans to deploy security personnel in critical areas to prevent future incidents.

"We are planning na magkaroon kami ng mga taong ilalagay dun sa dalawang common areas na ‘yun... gusto rin sana naming makipag-cooperate sa PNR kasi which is kailangan din nila mag deploy ng mga tao to help the two barangays na naka under sa boundary dispute," Reymark Cabaltera, Barangay Councilman of San Juan, said.
