Around 400 people in Alabel, Sarangani lost their money to an alleged investment scam.

The complainants trooped to the police station to lodge a complaint against an alleged investment company that could no longer be reached, as of this writing.

The complainants said they were enticed to invest their money because the company promised a 40 percent interest after one month.

Police said the complainants were even more convinced after they were given a sack of rice and a tray of eggs after they made the investment.

The investment company allegedly was able to get more than P200 million from the investors, police said.

“Maglagay ka nang pera is 40% daw ang tubo so doon ang mga tao medyo pangpa-attract… base po sa amount nakalagay ay tinotal po namin umabot po sa initial amount na P234 million,” Alabel Municipal Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Reynaldo Santos Delantein, said.

Authorities said that according to the complainants, the people behind the company may come from Luzon as they could not speak Bisaya.

If arrested, those behind the company may face charges of syndicated estafa.
