At least two Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) are causing weather disturbances in parts of Southern Luzon and Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 3 a.m. on July 19, 2024, one LPA was located approximately 135 km West Southwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. The other LPA was positioned 880 km East of Eastern Visayas.

Because of these LPAs, Northern Palawan and Occidental Mindoro can expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day.

This weather condition is caused directly by the influence of the LPA.

The rest of Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands, and Western Visayas will experience similar weather patterns, with cloudy skies and scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms caused by the trough of the LPA.

The rest of the Visayas region will also be under cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, but these are due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon.

Light to moderate winds from the Southwest to Southeast will prevail over Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro, resulting in slight to moderate sea conditions.

PAGASA advises residents in the affected areas to take necessary precautions against potential flash floods and landslides, especially in areas prone to such hazards.
