A bag found at the entrance of the Capitol building in Jordan town, Province of Guimaras contained a gun and a grenade, but authorities dismissed the items from being a threat.

According to Police Captain Ma. Jona Casono, chief of the Jordan Municipal Police Station, the items were found to be replicas or toys.

Capt. Casono said that the public can trust that Jordan remains peaceful and orderly.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has inspected all CCTV cameras in and outside of the Capitol to check on who could have left the bag unattended, or to have left it purposely.

According to Casono, replicas of firearms or grenades as toys are not prohibited, but if these are utilized to threaten people or disrupt peace and order, perpetrators become liable.

Reports on the abandoned bag at the entrance of the Capitol building were received by the authorities past 11 a.m. on July 18, 2024. The Capitol building is currently undergoing renovation.

When the police arrived and checked the bag, a replica of a pellet gun and a grenade were found. There were also other items in the bag such as a watch, perfume, green shorts, pink bag, and documents.
