A 76-year-old woman in Pigidan, Abra landed in the hospital after another woman stabbed her at least eight times when she refused to lend her money.

Authorities have arrested the 59-year-old suspect.

The two live in the same barangay and know each other.

Based on investigation, the suspect reportedly wanted to borrow P2,000 but the victim refused because she reportedly did not have the money.

This did not sit well with the suspect.

“Masakit ang loob ng suspek dahil hindi siya nakautang,” P/CMS Carlos Trece Beleno, Chief Investigator of Pidigan Municipal Police Station (MPS), said.

The suspect returned later and allegedly convinced the victim to go with her in looking for a can of rice up a hill. That was where she attacked the victim.

“Parang hinikayat niya, nakaplano na dahil may kutsilyo siya [yung suspek] sa kanyang bag,” Beleno said.

The victim, a former government employee, was rushed immediately to the hospital by residents in the area and the police. She is undergoing treatment, as of this writing.

The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation. She allegedly refused to cooperate, initially. Police also recovered the knife allegedly used in the crime.

She is facing charges of frustrated murder.
