The bodies of a man and his son were found in the river while a woman and her son are missing, as of this writing, after separate landslides hit Barangay Pamacutan in Zamboanga City on July 12, 2024.
According to the local government, the dead bodies of the man and his son were retrieved from the rivers in San Ramon and Anuling on Sunday, July 14, based on the report of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).
The local government said the house of the victims was pushed to the river when the landslide hit their community in Sitio Papaya.
Meanwhile, the search, rescue, and retrieval operations for the woman and her son continue, as of this writing, following a landslide in Sitio Anuling. Some clothing and documents were recovered from the landslide site.
Authorities used a backhoe to extract mud and rocks while a water tanker was used to clear the road covered with mud.
In the second week of July 2024, heavy rains triggered by the Southwest Monsoon poured and caused flooding in the city, which displaced around 2,000 families and damaged houses and other structures.
