The treasurer of Mandaue City, Atty. Regal Oliva, has dropped the name of Mandaue City Lone District Representative Emmarie Ouano-Dizon to be behind her impending reassignment to the National Capital Region.

Despite Atty. Oliva’s role as one of the proponents in the solidarity of the LGBTQ+ community in Mandaue City, other LGBT group has expressed support for Congresswoman Ouano-Dizon.

The group trooped to the office of the congresswoman on July 12, 2024. However, last July 10, 2024, an LGBTQ+ community and women’s organizations carried out a protest against the said office.

The groups called on a stop to the looming reassignment of Atty. Oliva, they deemed an LGBT rights icon in Mandaue City.

Among the supporters of Ouano are LGBTQ+ community leaders Kaye Lopez, president of Hugyaw sa [Barangay] Jagobiao and Raymond Capirol, president of LGBTQIA in Barangay Opao.

Oliva continues to serve at the City Hall pending the implementation of an order for her transfer.

Oliva confirmed there is no order yet from the Bureau of Local Government Finance on her reassignment.

Oliva said a document was required of her, but she has not replied to the request.

She mentioned that Ouano-Dizon is privy into her reassignment, and that because of the conflict she sets her eyes at running opposite Ouano-Dizon in the May 2025 polls.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak reached for a fresh statement from Ouano-Dizon on Oliva’s latest statement but the congresswoman has refused.

In an interview on July 10, 2024, Ouano-Dizon denied vehemently any involvement on Oliva’s impending reassignment and said that anyone qualified to seek an elective post is free to do so.
