A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in Lamitan City, Basilan.
The victim was found lying lifeless at a grassy area in Barangay Limook dawn on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
The pajama pants she wore was tied around her neck when her body was found.
Authorities said the girl may have been raped first before she was killed.
Police said the victim reportedly asked permission from her siblings that she would go out to pick mangoes that fell from the tree at their neighbor evening on Tuesday, July 9, but she failed to return home.
In a follow-up operation, operatives arrested a 65-year-old man.
The suspect is now detained and will face rape with homicide charges.
