Six people, including a member of the PNP Special Action Force (SAF), were killed while six other policemen were wounded in a raid in Aleosan, Cotabato on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the slain policeman as Master Sergeant Jed Michael Gregorio.

The wounded SAF members were identified as Captain Marc Bryan Tamid-Ay, Captain Kirk John Kollin, Staff Master Sergeant Alcher Dacula, Corporal Mark Joseph Galanta, Patrolman John Steven Luyun, and Corporal Emonrick Gadat.

Authorities were supposed to serve two search warrants against alias “Kwat/Iskoh” and his four cohorts for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act when the firefight happened.

Police said the suspects fired shots at the operating team, forcing the latter to return fire.

The armed encounter lasted for about 30 minutes and resulted in the death of the five suspects.

Seized from the suspects were sachets of suspected shabu worth around P324,000 and high-powered guns, including rifles, a pistol, and assorted ammunition.
