The Bangsamoro government has named the appointed officials (officer-in-charge) for the newly created eight towns in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim released the names of the OIC mayors, OIC vice-mayors, and OIC councilors in the towns of Pahamuddin, Kadayangan, Nabalawag, Malidegao, Tugunan, Ligawasan, Old Kaabakan, and Kapalawan.

SGA residents have favored the ratification of the creation of these new SGA towns during the plebiscite conducted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on April 13, 2024.

Ebrahim then issued an executive order creating an ad hoc screening and review committee for applicants to municipal positions on April 30, 2024.

“Under the Bangsamoro Autonomy Acts creating the eight new SGA municipalities, the Chief Minister shall appoint its municipal officials with due regard to representation of women of the Bangsamoro. The officials shall continue to hold office until their successor shall have been elected in the next general elections for local officials,” the Bangsamoro government said.
