Two drug suspects were killed while a policeman was injured in an armed encounter at a public market in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Authorities identified the suspects as alias “Jay” and alias “Nasir.”

Personnel of the Bongao Municipal Police Station and 1405th Regional Mobile Force Company conducted an operation after receiving a report from an informant about the alleged illegal drug trafficking happening at the market.

The suspects allegedly opened fire upon seeing the operating team, forcing the operatives to retaliate.

An armed encounter ensued, resulting in the death of the two suspects and the wounding of Patrolman Abdulmijir Usman Kali Jr. He was hit in his right leg.

Seized from the crime scene were sachets of suspected shabu worth around P34,000 and two caliber .45 pistols.
