The local government of Zamboanga City is set to issue a cease and desist order against 18 gas stations found to be operating without business permits.

As of July 2, 2024, at least 18 of 48 gas stations checked during an inspection conducted by the City Licensing Division Office were found to be operating without permits.

“Alam naman natin na flammable yung product nila, and high risk yan to the public. So dapat lahat ng regulations na-meet nila. Unfortunately, itong mga businesses na ito, naka-construct na, nag-operate na upon inspection, it’s already operating without business permit,” City Licensing Officer, Benjie Barredo, said.

These gas stations will face closure once they failed to comply with the three notices the government will issue.

The cease and desist order will be issued to allow these establishments to follow the regulations.

So far, two of the 18 have already complied.

The City Licensing Division Office will continue to check businesses in the city to ensure they have permits.

Establishments that will register late will have to face 25 percent penalty per quarter and two percent per month.

“Not only for payment of taxes but also for regulations of business to ensure public safety, health and order. Secure your business permits immediately,” Barredo added.
