The Land Transportation Office-Davao (LTO-11) is reminding motorcycle owners with no license plates yet to coordinate with their dealers before the office implements the “No plate, No travel” policy in the region.

LTO-11 is already expediting the distribution of license plates to motorists, especially to dealers.

“What we’re doing right now, paspas pud ang among pag-distribute sa mga plaka. Naghatag mi og plaka especially sa mga dealers nato kay sila man gyud na ang nakabalo sa ilang mga buyers,” LTO-11 Director Eleonor Calderon, said.

LTO-11 said there are no more backlogs in releasing license plates for four-wheel vehicles except for hybrid four-wheel vehicles like e-vehicles.

“Katung 2015 naa tay mga plaka nga na-hold for a while. Ang tawag ato kay replacement kay existing naman to nga mga sakyanan gi-replace lang nato ang mga plaka. So naay ubay ubay atong 2015 nga wala pa na-produce. That’s only 2015. 2016, 2017 up to present naa na nang mga plakaha,” Calderon added.

However, there are still backlogs for motorcycles because of the changes in the design of the plates to alphanumeric combination.

“Amo man gud giulahi ug fabricate sa manila Katung lagyo na. Mas gusto man gud namo progressive ta mahatag dayun namo. Plus katung earlier date year mahatag na namo,” Calderon said.

LTO-11 assured that there are still plates available for those who are planning to buy motorcycles.

Vehicles without license plates will be penalized and will be made to pay a fine of P5,000.

Motorcycle owners are urged to follow-up their plates with their dealers, or they may contact the hotline number of LTO to know the status of their plates.

LTO-11 is just waiting for the memorandum from its central office on the implementation of the “No plate, No travel” policy.
