Two Philippine eagles that were rescued years back in Davao City were brought successfully to Leyte and released in the forest of Burauen town.

The two eagles named “Uswag” and “Carlito” were released in Marabong watershed, Barangay Kagbana in the Municipality of Burauen, Leyte through the initiative of the Philippine Eagle Foundation.

“Uswag” was rescued in Mount Apo, Davao City in 2023, while “Carlito” was rescued in Trento, Agusan del Sur in 2022.

The release of the female and male raptors under the Philippine Eagle Foundation’s multi-year conservation translocation program comes with the hope of increasing their population through the help of communities that are more educated about conservation of eagles and their contribution to ecological balance.
