The number of dengue cases in Davao has gone up up in the first half of 2024.

Data from the Department of Health-Davao (DOH-11) showed that cases have reached 9,073 from January 1 to June 22, 2024, which is 26.03 percent higher compared to the number in the same period in 2023 with 7,199 cases.

Those who died due to the disease also rose to 54, higher than the 38 deaths recorded in the same period in 2023.

Davao del Norte recorded the highest number of cases with 2,416, followed by Davao City with 2,192.

Davao del Sur and Davao de Oro both have more than 1,000 cases. Davao Oriental has more than 800 cases while Davao Occidental has more than 500.

Meanwhile, Davao City has the highest number of deaths with 17.

Because of this, health authorities reminded the public anew to practice the strategies to prevent the deadly disease, especially this rainy season.

“Yung prevention natin, especially for cases of dengue, we always tell them na kailangan talagang I practice ang 4s,” DOH-11 Director, Dr. Anabelle Yumang, said.

DOH-11 has conducted training for health workers and intensified its information drive to combat dengue.
