A two-year-old boy in Barangay Calbueg, Malasiqui, Pangasinan suffered from burns on the chest and abdomen after he spilled hot coffee on himself.

Karen Torralba, the boy's mother, said she had just prepared the coffee and placed the cup on the table. To her surprise, her son reached for the cup and spilled the drink.

The child was taken to a doctor and was given medication.

However, the family struggles to afford the expensive medicine, as the boy’s father works only occasionally in the fields.

The family appealed for help.

"Wala akong tulog dahil napupuyat ako sa kanya, at hindi na rin ako maka-trabaho dahil sa paso niya, tapos may baby pa ako na maliit," Torralba said.

The Center of Health and Development (CHD-1) said the child's injuries can lead to sepsis or blood infection if not treated properly.
