A service vehicle was damaged severely and its driver was injured after it was caught between two trucks on the highway in Barangay Tambo, Lipa City.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage shows a truck hitting the service vehicle from behind, pushing it to the truck in front of it.

The three vehicles were heading in the same direction.

Based on initial investigation, the truck behind the service vehicle encountered problems with its brakes. It was transporting sand.

Ricardo Cuevas, Chief Investigator of the Lipa Component City Police, said.

Rescue teams had difficulty removing the driver from the service vehicle but pulled him out eventually and brought him to the hospital.

The driver sustained scratches on the hands and reportedly experienced chest pain.

The incident interrupted vehicle traffic.

The driver of the truck that hit the service vehicle has reportedly settled with the driver who got injured. Among those they have reportedly agreed upon are financial compensation and vehicle replacement.

Police reminded motorists to check the condition of their vehicle regularly.
