A man was caught on camera when he stole a motorcycle with 75 pieces of parcel in Hilado Street, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.

The thief was already wearing a crash helmet when he went close to a parked motorcycle.

As soon as he got the chance, he rode on the motorcycle, revved it up, and sped away.

Also seen in the footage is a man who was startled by the incident but managed to run after the motorcycle.

Police investigation found out that the owner of the motorcycle, who works as a delivery rider, forgot to take the key off the vehicle's ignition slot.

“Talagang nagulat sya, na-shock sya. Tumakbo ang motorsiklo at diyan pa mismo sa harap niya,” a security guard named “Deody” said.

The owner of the motorcycle was identified as John Paul Alegre, 30 years old, who reported the incident immediately at Police Station 4.

Aside from the motorcycle, the thief took with him the 75 parcels that amounted to around P25,000; and over P5,000 cash kept in the U-Box compartment.

“Maaabot ko na sana sya kaya lang parang na-blangko ako nang makita ko sya. Lahat ng ‘yon, babayaran ko ‘yon,” Alegre said.

Alegre pointed out that the incident was even made more painful by the fact that the motorcycle was newly purchased after he had saved up for it for quite a time.

“Pangarap ko ‘yong motor na ‘yon. Binili ko ‘yon, pinag-ipunan,” Alegre said.

As of posting time, police have three persons of interest.

“Mayroon kaming mino-monitor na tao na dati nang may record. Tina-try na namin na ma-identify sya. Two to three persons ang aming mino-monitor,” Captain Francis Depasucat, chief of Police Station 4, said.

Other delivery riders who were in the area, but were equally as startled when the incident happened, requested for presence of additional policemen and guards at parking spaces.

“Dahil sa sobra naming pagmamadali, minsan naiiwan ang susi. Kahit anong mangyari, ma-holdap ka, kahit ikaw pa ang biktima, kargo mo ang [lahat] dahil may policy,” a delivery rider identified only as “Glenn” said.
